I’m an online Spanish teacher
I was born in Soria -a not very well known province in Spain, yet the real birthplace of the Spanish language- and
since 2013 I have helped more than 2.000 students of over 30 different nationalities to learn Spanish and communicate more easily and effectively.
My mission is to help Spanish students to communicate better in a shorter period of time while enjoying the journey
My time as a student
I once was a language student myself
Yeah, I’ve been a language student myself, so I’ve also experienced the process of learning a foreign language with all its difficulties and hurdles along the way. Over the 6 years that I lived in Bristol, I went through different stages of learning in my goal to speak fluent English with confidence and self-assurance.
So I am well aware of what it feels like when you don’t have the confidence to speak a language, and you’re afraid of making mistakes or getting stuck because you don’t have the knowledge and practice that is needed.
After a lifetime of studying English in schools, academies and language centres, I realised that I had fallen victim to a methodology that was not focused on my greatest needs: speaking and communicating.
My time as a teacher
For several years I worked in Spanish language schools,
both in England and in Spain. I greatly enjoyed it, and the more time I spent there the more I realised that teaching was my great passion and what I wanted to do for life.
The schools I worked in were great fun and we did some very interesting activities that helped the students make progress, but I always thought they could achieve so much more…
Not all teachers are good at teaching, as you probably experienced yourself at school.
And not all methodologies are good for communicating in a language, certainly not the traditional one.
That’s why I decided to create my own project, to help students progress faster and enjoy the learning experience more with a methodology that focuses on their real needs.
This is how Direct Español was created.
More than a teacher
A travel companion
Yes, I love to travel and meet people from all over the world, something which languages make easier and which allows me to put them to use.
I like my students to feel comfortable chatting in Spanish with me as if they were doing so with a friend over a cup of coffee in a friendly atmosphere.
I will be your teacher, there is no signing up without knowing who you are going to be with, as it happens in so many learning platforms. No, this is me on the other side and I want you to get to know me a bit more…
I consider myself a very energetic, cheerful and patient person, capable of spreading my passion for Spanish to other people.
I enjoy doing sports, but what I especially like is hiking in the mountains, as it teaches me that perseverance always results in the triumph of enjoying special places. I also enjoy mushroom hunting and cooking.
Even though I’m Spanish, I don’t like siesta, barbecue sauce or being late.

Hybrid methodology for speaking Spanish
My experience led me to design my own methodology. I didn’t want students to remain at a standstill by always using the same grammar, so I started to put this “flipped” system that I personally designed into practice in my online classes. I soon saw how students progressed much faster and achieved better results.
So my mission now is to help online Spanish students to communicate better with this method while spending less time, being more effective and having more fun along the way.
